"Run for your Wife": Summer semester 2011

In Ray Cooney’s comedy Run for your Wife John Smith, a taxi driver, is married to two wives who – unaware of each other – live in two different parts of London.

When John finds himself concussed by means of an old lady’s handbag, John’s double-life begins to crumble. Hilarious chaos ensues as John struggles to keep his secret with flabbergasting fibs. His upstairs neighbour Stanley knows the truth and thus becomes an accessory in the act, yet only making matters worse.

The play shows the audience the true consequences of trying to avoid the truth.

John’s elaborate fabrications (including a nun, a farmer, a transvestite and much more) only prove to land him in even deeper trouble. Could honesty truly be his best option, or will he manage to keep things under wraps?
